About Word Guess
Word Guess is our take on the classic five-letter deduction puzzle — with two twists that regulars ask for: unlimited rounds (no waiting until tomorrow for a new word) and three difficulty levels that change how many attempts you get. Easy gives you a forgiving 8 tries, Medium the classic 6, and Hard a tense 5.
After every guess, the tiles tell you exactly how close you are: green means the letter is correct and in the right spot, yellow means it's in the word but elsewhere, and gray means it isn't in the word at all. The on-screen keyboard remembers every clue so you never lose track.
How to play
- Type a real five-letter word using the on-screen keyboard (or your physical keyboard on desktop) and press ENTER.
- Read the colours, eliminate possibilities, and refine your next guess.
- Find the word before your tries run out. Completely stuck? A rewarded hint can reveal one correct letter.
- Finished? Start a new round immediately — the game never makes you wait.
Strategy: think like a codebreaker
- Open with vowel-heavy words. A starter like OCEAN or IMAGE tests three vowels at once. Your first two guesses should aim to gather information, not to win.
- Yellow letters must move. A yellow letter is guaranteed to be in the word — but never guess it in the same position twice. Mentally list which slots remain legal for it.
- Watch for repeated letters. Words like APPLE punish solvers who assume all five letters are unique. If your greens and yellows don't add up, consider a double.
- Use the keyboard colours. The greyed-out keys are your elimination record. Before each guess, scan the keyboard: guessing a grey letter again is a wasted slot.

Word Guess FAQ
How is this different from Wordle?
Same beloved core rules, different pacing: you can play as many rounds as you like back-to-back, and you choose your difficulty. It's built for practice sessions and long bus rides, not a once-a-day ritual.
Why was my guess rejected?
Guesses must be real five-letter words from the game's dictionary — random letter combinations don't count. If a legitimate word you tried isn't accepted, tell us and we'll consider adding it.
What does the hint actually do?
After a short ad, one letter of the answer that you haven't found yet is revealed. It's a lifeline for a stubborn word, not a shortcut — you still have to place it.
